About NCOA

Every American deserves to age well. BenefitsCheckUp is a free, confidential service that connects older adults to programs that can help them stay healthy and independent.

If you or an older adult you care for has concerns about applying for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, there are resources available to help.

About NCOA

Founded in 1950, the National Council on Aging is a trusted voice for older adults and the professionals who serve them.

Working with thousands of national and local partners, we provide resources, tools, best practices, and advocacy to ensure every person can age well. This includes connecting older adults to programs that help them afford daily expenses, stay active and socially connected, and prevent and manage chronic conditions.

How BenefitsCheckUp supports healthy aging in America

NCOA is making a difference in people’s lives every day. Take David, age 75, a Veteran living with a disability. Through the help of NCOA's nationwide network of Benefits Enrollment Centers (BECs) and BenefitsCheckUp, he enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and utility assistance. David and his wife now save hundreds of dollars each year and can rest easy knowing their basic needs are no longer out of reach.

Tom, age 60, was hesitant to apply for SNAP because he'd heard the application process was complex. A local NCOA partner helped Tom complete his SNAP application. Tom was approved for SNAP with the maximum monthly food benefits.

“I'm grateful they took the time to help me apply," Tom told us.
